Midnight in Heartland
by Ron Septimus

well i came to this place
hiding from the pain
my heart was left bleeding
no place for my bones to lay
if i stay here in this city
there's no exception to the rule
she was born to love me
i was meant to be her fool
you've got to walk that line
.
have some nerve to play your part
spend your whole life trying
you've got to ride that train
forget the pain love the rain
light the dark
it's midnight in heartland
.
so i went down to the river
to take a look around
high heel shoes hat and socks
on the ground
no more mysteries baby no more secrets
no more clues
the stars are out tonight baby
do you see the moon
and the streets are cold and windy
the subways are closing down
we carry on our our dreams
till what is lost is finally found
.
you've got to walk that line
have some nerve play your part
spend your whole life trying
you need to ride that train
forget the pain love the rain
light the dark
it's midnight in heartland
